That is why we have placed emphasis not only on the purpose-built spaces themselves, but also on the already mentioned foyer, which will become an important element. Social communication, discussion, waiting, tension and relaxation are inherent to every artistic performance. To this end, we are creating a foyer of pleasing oblong proportions with refreshment facilities, a glass wall with afternoon sun and visual contact to the manicured greenery.
Along the foyer, the various desired spaces are arranged so that, in the form of reconfigurable acoustic walls, the spaces can be used universally and reconfigurable into different forms and dimensions.
The main hall uses the shape of the canopy to elevate the height of the space. This will allow the acoustic design to work well in the next phase of the design. After consideration, the floor level has been designed to be level and the height articulation is made possible by reconfigurable furnishings so as not to detract from the variability of the use of the hall. There is a smaller backstage area behind the main hall for performers. Hygiene facilities were finally designed to be shared by the public and performers to save space and costs.
Other spaces are designed according to the client's requirements, i.e. space for dance and ballet training and space for art classes. It is necessary to consider the use of these spaces, in particular the art disciplines have furnished studios in the existing building and building facilities in a new building would be financially demanding. It would be appropriate to move some of the music and dance departments, which communicate more with each other, into the new building. There is an area for specific equipment or facilities for these spaces. The spaces have northern lighting so as not to be encumbered by harsh sunlight and have natural ventilation. This avoids the installation and operation of complex air handling equipment in addition to the main hall.
The connection between the new pavilion and the existing building is designed with a light glass walkway connecting the landing of the staircase of the current building with the pavilion at the level of the green roof and descending the staircase to the foyer. This solution has allowed us to maintain the pedestrian route across the park that is mentioned in the urban design. The footbridge will give the pavilion a mark of originality and become an invitation to visit for curious visitors.
But this is not the end of the pavilion's communication with the outside world. The shape of the building and the green roof are not just an arbitrary and formal solution of the façade.
The slope shape, complemented by appropriate ground floor elements, not only allows for pleasant relaxation in a nice environment, but also creates an additional space of a kind of amphitheatre for possible summer productions.
