It may not be generally known that Mladá Boleslav was historically the centre of Hussitism and the Czech Brethren Church. That is why it was called either Jerusalem on the Jizera River or simply the Rome of the Bohemian Brothers. The motif of the fountain is therefore based on the Hussite tradition of the chalice, but in principle it has been artistically transformed into the shape you see in the picture. The fountain is essentially a focal point in this historic part of the city to this day.
