Our studio was on a sightseeing tour in Hamburg.
We visited the Indra club, where Hamburgers were first introduced to the Beatles in August 1960, Western and Eastern HafenCity, Speicherstadt, Kontorhaus District, the center of Hamburg, Neue Mitte Altona, the Reeperbahn and the Elbe Philharmonic.
We had a great program planned:
Thursday: Getting to know the city - kebabs, beer and Reeperbahn (nightlife) - combined with a night walk through its center.
Friday: We went through the administrative parts of Hamburg (Chilehaus, Afrikahaus, Zürichhaus, Asiahaus), Speicherstadt, Jan-Fedder-Promenade, and Elbtunnel. We had a classic German meal – pizza! Then we had a long walk through the Elbe Philharmonic building, where we boarded the Louisiana Star ship, which offered us unusual views of Hamburg after leaving the port. Finally, we walked through Altona's new Alstadt neighbourhood (a former brownfield) and sampled currywurst and fish sandwiches.
Saturday: We started with a long walk with an interpretation by Guiding Architects in the Hafen City district (the modern part of the former port) - the Elbtower building (arch. Chipperfield) and the Hafen City Universität stop (light boxes), which we ended at the Der Spiegel building, where sitting in the garden with schnitzel and a beer came in handy, which swayed in getting to know the nightlife in Hamburg.
Sunday: The highlight of our Hamburg expedition was a visit to the Fishmarkt.
